Nothing like a 6.0 magnitude earthquake at 3:20 am to literally shake us out of our beds and get us going for the day! Napa Valley was rocked with a severe earthquake this morning and after ensuring all of our team was okay and without injuries we began the task of inspecting our various wine cellars. Unfortunately we did lose two barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon due to barel stacks tipping over and breaking in one of our barrel storage facilities in the city of Napa. Thankfully other than that, it was mainly some broken glasses and bottles that we had to clean up in our tasting rooms. Not the way we had expected to kick off harvest but it did force us to get the cellars cleaned up and ready for the first grapes.
